REAL JDM TOKYO is operated within Ichiu Co., Ltd., which also runs licensed passenger transport services. We keep self-drive rental, guide support and licensed passenger transport clearly separated so guests know exactly what service they are booking.
Ichiu Co., Ltd. operates Tokyo Airport Transfer under passenger transport business permit 関自旅二第3878号, using commercial green-plate vehicles for transfers and sightseeing charters.
Our operation is supported by professional drivers experienced with Tokyo roads, local driving conditions and guest transportation.
Insurance and coverage are arranged according to the service provided. Applicable coverage, excess and exclusions are explained before booking and vehicle handover.
Japanese authorities warn that paid passenger transport in private vehicles without the required permission is illegal. Users of unlicensed transport may also be questioned by police. Not every JDM experience advertised online operates under the same legal framework.
CAN I DRIVE IN JAPAN?

Japan accepts specific driving credentials. Use this quick guide first; final eligibility is confirmed before vehicle handover.
A valid Japanese licence can be used within its valid period.
A valid International Driving Permit in the Geneva Convention format can be used subject to Japan's permitted driving period.
Licences from Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco and Taiwan may be used with an authorized Japanese translation, subject to the permitted driving period.

LEGAL & AUTHORIZATION
Know who you're booking with.
In Japan, paid vehicle rental is regulated, and paid passenger transportation may require separate permission or registration depending on the service. Before booking any JDM experience, check that the operator's authorization and insurance match what is actually being offered.
Paid car rental requires authorization
Under Article 80 of Japan's Road Transportation Act, operating a business that rents private-use vehicles for payment requires authorization from the national transport authority.
Watch for unauthorized paid transport
Japanese authorities explicitly warn that unauthorized paid passenger transport using private vehicles — commonly called illegal white-taxi or white-bus operations — is unlawful. Do not assume every JDM experience advertised online operates under the same rules.
GUIDES & THE GREY AREA
A guide is not automatically a licensed transport operator.
Japan changed its guide-interpreter rules in 2018. Paid sightseeing guidance can be offered without holding the national or regional guide-interpreter qualification, but protected guide-interpreter titles may only be used by registered qualified guides. That change did not create a free pass for paid passenger transport.
A person without the national or regional guide-interpreter qualification may provide paid foreign-language sightseeing guidance. They must not use the protected titles, or confusingly similar titles, reserved for registered guide interpreters.
A guide qualification by itself does not authorize paid passenger transport. Government guidance describes a limited case where a publicly qualified guide may transport guests as an incidental part of genuine guiding when there is no payment specifically for the transport.
Calling a service a “guide tour,” or hiding the ride inside a guide fee, does not decide whether the transport is lawful. If the actual service is essentially driving customers from place to place, transport permission or registration may be required. Authorities look at the substance of the service, not just its label.
RJT SUPPORT MODEL
Our current concept keeps the roles clear: the guest drives the rental car. Support is provided either from a separate lead car or by a guide riding in the passenger seat. We do not present paid passenger transport as “guide service.” Final operating details will be confirmed before launch.

Do I drive the GT-R myself?
Yes. The concept is a rental driving experience where you drive the vehicle yourself, with either lead-car support or a passenger-seat guide depending on the selected plan.
I've never driven in Japan. Is that a problem?
Tell us your experience level. We can recommend the support style that makes the drive easier to understand and enjoy.
How much does it cost?
For now, pricing is ASK because the final fleet and operating plans are still being prepared.
Are the vehicle photos final?
Not yet. This is a pre-launch site. The image system is designed so the real vehicle photos can be swapped in later.
Can I drive in Japan with my licence?

What is included in the price?
Final inclusions, fuel/tolls, insurance, excess, deposit and cancellation terms are shown before payment. We will not hide these inside vague package wording.
How do I know if my date is available?
